We are thrilled to have you joining the Marketing team tomorrow! As we discussed during your interview, we need someone who can hit the ground running. Your predecessor, D. Miller, was abruptly terminated last week, and his workstation was left in an unacceptable state.

We don't know what Miller was working on during company time, but his work started slipping and he kept missing deadlines. So we let him go. IT says they're investigating his profile, but we have to wait for them to get back to us with any more information.

IT should be following up with you first thing in the morning to ensure everything is taken care of with your desktop. Work with them in getting your computer working, and then I'll assign you some tasks to work on.

I apologize for the strangeness of this situation. This is not how we usually do things around here, but we thank you for being flexible with us.
